Formby Gems

Our Principal/Trainer is Michelle Mawdsley (nee Gibson).  She started dancing when she 8 years old and is still dancing to this day in our senior 1 line.  Michelle started her dancing career with Southport Silhouettes, during her time with Southport she also danced for Lynettes in 1998 when Southport had no seniors, and then moved to Preston Rosettes in 2004 & 2005.

Michelle started Formby Gems up in September 2005 with Laura a fellow dancer and friend, but unfortunately Laura is now at university.  Michelle now runs the troupe with the help of Jess D and Shelley training the younger dances.   Between them they train Babies, Dinkies, Juniors and Seniors week in week out and is always there no matter what.  Michelle is not only our trainer/principal but a friend!

As well as Michelle we have Jess Dower who trains our Babies and Shelley who helps Michelle with the training of the Dinkies and Juniors.  Shelley has been dancing for 12 years and danced with Michelle at Southport Silhouettes.  Michelle actually taught Shelley to dance and was the dinky leader at Southport when Michelle trained the Dinkies.  Jess has been dancing 3 years, before she joined Formby Gems she danced for a troupe called Venus (formally Glenshields).
