Formby Gems
Est. 2005 Shining their way to success!
Formby Gems Dance Troupe where established in September 2005 two friends Michelle and Laura, who between them had 27 years of dancing experience. Michelle and Laura in past years have both danced for Southport Silhouettes and more recently Michelle has danced for Preston Rosettes. So in the summer of 2005 Michelle and Laura decided to start out on their own, bringing their experience and love they have for Morris Dancing to Formby, and so Formby Gems was formed. Unfortunately Laura is now at University.
At the end of 2005 season Shelley came to dance for us a former Southport Silhouettes dancer. She now helps Michelle with the running and training of Formby Gems between the pair of them they have over 30 years of dancing experience. Along with Michelle's experience of judging for orgainsation such as NEMDCO and NDTO, this equals a winning formula.
We have just come to the end of our second season together as Formby Gems and have competed in competition on Sunday's with an orgainsation called NDTO (Northern Dance Troupe Orgainsation). Michelle couldn't be prouder of all the teams, they have worked so hard to get to where they have got. Well done girls you have over come the difficulties and are fantastic. We have a fantastic, friendly bunch of girls we couldn't ask for anymore.

We currently have 30 members between the age of 2 and 27 years old, but we are always looking for new dancers of all ages to join our troupes.

Don't worry if you have no dancing experience we will be all to pleased to teach anybody who is interested and willing to give it a go!!
We would also love to hear from anyone who remembers the original Formby Gems, who we think disbanded around the late 70's, early 80's.
Formby Gems are a non-profit making organisation and any money which is raised or donated is put straight back into the troupe for uniforms and to pay for the practice hall as well as the general day to day running of the troupe. We are looking to do a number of fund raising activities later this year to raise some money to help us get to competitions next season as well as help towards the cost of uniforms.
